In the 1960s, Dr. James Maas, professor of psychology at Cornell University, arranged to have a series of educational films produced for undergraduate psychology students. When Dr. Maas saw William Kurelek’s painting The Maze while visiting London, England, he knew it was an ideal subject for a film. The Maze: The Story of William Kurelek, a thirty-minute documentary by filmmaker Robert Young, was completed in 1970.
